Planning your Wedding Reception

Planning your wedding reception

The main considerations are the place and the entertainment.

The venue

When planning your wedding reception, the first thing to do is to find the right venue for it. If you do it the other way round – plan what you want to do and then look for a place to do it in – you may be disappointed. Particularly if you want to get married quite soon, find the right place for your reception before you decide too specifically what you want the reception to look and feel like.

Spend some time looking around a potential venue and talking to the person who will be in charge of your reception. Make sure the staff are reliable, that you feel comfortable there and that the space can easily accommodate the approximate number of guests you want to invite.

Entertainment

Once you know where you are going to hold your wedding reception, it’s time to think about the entertainment. Check out this useful wedding entertainment website for more ideas.

Music

You will definitely want some music, either live or from a DJ.

Magic

It is a fantastic idea to have a magician at your wedding reception. There are so many times during a wedding day when nothing definite is happening for a lot of the guests – while you are having the photos taken, while people are queuing up for the reception line, between the end of the breakfast and the dancing, etc, etc – and magic is marvellous, versatile, flexible entertainment.

Children’s entertainment

It is also a good idea to have someone to entertain the children among your guests. Depending on the average age, you could have a clown, a face painter, a balloon artist, a puppeteer or simply a childminder who will organise activities for them.
