Accessories, favours and decorations
Along with all the
big things you are booking, don’t forget
the little things.
Bridal
accessories
Once you have bought
your wedding dress and the shoes to go with it,
here are a few questions to consider regarding
your accessories:
-
What jewellery are you
going to wear on the day?
-
What are you going to put
in your hair?
-
Have you got all the right
make-up and nail polish?
-
Are you going to wear stockings?
If so, have you got the right colour and quality
of stockings to go with your outfit? Have
you got a comfortable, good-quality suspender
belt that won’t let you down?
-
Have you got special underwear
for your wedding day and honeymoon?
-
Are you going to wear gloves?
-
Are you going to carry
a little handbag on your wedding day or are
you going to ask your bridesmaid to carry
everything you need?
Wedding
favours
Many couples like
to give wedding favours, little gifts to all their
guests. Traditionally, these are put on the tables
for the wedding breakfast, beside each place setting.
You can give the same to everybody or you can
give one thing to the men and another thing to
the women. You can give something symbolic (eg,
a heart-shaped chocolate), something useful (eg,
a key ring) or something that reflects you and
goes with the theme of your wedding (eg, if you
are keen on aromatherapy and using scented candles
at you wedding reception, you could give a little
candle to each guest).
Decorations
Flower arrangements
make beautiful and spectacular decorations for
your wedding and reception venues. These may be
enough for you or you may want also to have balloons,
ribbons, banners, centrepieces on the tables for
the breakfast, special napkins, paper fans, indoor
fireworks…
Think also about
whether you want a colour scheme for your wedding.
If so, the decorations can reflect it.
A word about confetti:
Paper confetti is frowned upon these days as being
a menace to clear up. However, it is not only
traditional but part of the fun to have some confetti
at your wedding and we recommend dried rose petals.
These are organic and pose no problems on that
score – and they look lovely in the photos.
Ask your bridesmaid or best man to get hold of
some.
